A Distinguished Research Scholar at Texas A & M University, Dr. Reynolds is a Professor of Educational Psychology and a Professor of Neuroscience. He is well known for his work in psychological testing and assessment, and is the author or editor of more than 30 books, including The Handbook of School Psychology, the Encyclopedia of Special Education and the Handbook of Psychological and Educational Assessment of Children. He also authored the widely used Test of Memory and Learning (TOMAL) and the Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale. He has published a total of more than 300 scholarly works
Dr. Reynolds has received a number of national awards for his work. These include the Lightner Witmer Award from the American Psychological Association (APA), Early Career Awards from both the Educational Psychology and Evaluation Measurement and Statistics divisions of APA, and the Robert Chin Award from the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues. In 1999, he received the APA Division of School Psychology's Senior Scientist Award, and in 2000, the National Academy of Neuropsychology Distinguished Neuropsychologist Award.
Along with his scholarly achievements, Dr. Reynolds maintains a clinical practice. He is editor-in-chief of Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology, and serves on the editorial boards of 13 journals. Active in professional affairs, he has served as President of the National Academy of Neuropsychology, as a member of APA's Committee on Psychological Tests and Assessment, and on the executive boards of three APA divisions as well as the National Association of School Psychologists. He is Past-President of two APA divisions, Clinical Neuropsychology (40), and Evaluation, Measurement, and Statistics (5).
Dr. Reynolds is a frequent guest lecturer and speaker.
