Benefits
- Suitable for a wide range of settings, including culturally diverse groups where English proficiency varies.
- Helps identify giftedness and support educational decision-making.
- Untimed administration: differentiates high levels of intellectual ability using more challenging items within the top 20% of the population.
- Timed administration: assesses intellectual efficiency.
Features
Raven’s Progressive Matrices is available in a range of pre-packaged kits. Customers can purchase Coloured, Standard, or Advanced kits individually, or a complete kit containing all three versions. Kits include:
- Answer forms: Double-page forms that transfer responses to a scoring page designed to convert answers into scores.
- Test booklets: Version-specific booklets available individually or in packs of 10 for group administration.
- Manuals: Guidance for administration and interpretation, including research and technical information.
- Scoring keys: Generally not required, as most answer forms support direct scoring. Available for large volumes of hand-scorable forms or older unrevised versions.
Content and Administration
The test includes three forms with progressively more difficult items for different populations. Examinees identify the missing element in a series of figural patterns. Items increase in complexity and require stronger encoding and analysis skills. The test may be administered individually or in groups. The Coloured and Standard Progressive Matrices include both classic and parallel versions for retesting.
- Coloured Progressive Matrices (CPM): an “Easy” level test spreading scores in the bottom 20% of the general population
- Standard Progressive Matrices (SPM): an “Average” level test for the general population
- Advanced Progressive Matrices (APM): a “Difficult” level test spreading scores in the top 20% of the population
