Firmly grounded in Ayres Sensory Integration® theory, the new SPM-2 updates the original Sensory Processing Measure (SPM) and Sensory Processing Measure – Preschool (SPM-P) as well as offering an expanded age range to include infants, toddlers, adolescents and adults. The SPM-2 is a norm-referenced measure of function in the visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, gustatory, proprioceptive (body awareness), and vestibular (balance and motion) sensory systems, as well as praxis and social participation.

What’s new in the SPM-2?

  • Expanded age range includes infants, toddlers, preschool and school-age children, adolescents, and adults
  • Option for either self-report or independent rater versions of the adolescent and adult forms
  • Updated norms based on new standardisation samples

  • Updated SPM-2 Quick Tips, now organised by additional sensory, cognitive, and behavioural objectives to develop intervention strategies for home, school, work, and in the community
  • Quick Tips included as part of child kits
  • Compare the sensory needs of individuals to those of the caregiver, parent, teacher, or other adult
  • Updated item content reflects changes in technology for children's play and activities
