						As part of the adaptation of the CELF Preschool-3 UK, a comprehensive review of all test materials from both the US and A&amp;NZ were undertaken by the Pearson Clinical Assessment Research and Development team in the UK, paying particular attention to the suitability of test content in terms of UK culture and language. After completing this review process, the CELF Preschool-3UK utilised the same test content and scoring criteria as the CELF Preschool-3A&amp;NZ​</p>

Doing so provides clinicians with confidence of the suitability of the use of the CELF Preschool-3UK with children across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Data collection and management of the UK validation project was overseen by the Research and Development team within Pearson Clinical Assessment UK. Validation data collection took place between January and October 2023.</td>

						<strong>What did the UK Validation Research Sample involve?</strong></td>

						<p>The CELF Preschool&ndash;3UK validation research involved a stratified sample of N = 210 children with an additional clinical sample collected (N = 30). According to the inclusion and exclusion specifications for the validation sample, the children included did not meet the diagnosis criteria for a language impairment, a learning disorder in reading or writing, or a hearing impairment. All children spoke English as their primary (used most often in the home) language.&nbsp;<br />
						<br />
						An analysis of the Census data provided by the Office for National Statistics (ONS; 2011, 2020) served as the basis for stratification to ensure a proportional number of participants were targeted for testing for the following variables: age, sex, race/ethnicity, and parent education level. The sample was balanced for regions of the UK but did not form a stratification variable, as region accounts for very little score variance. Efforts were made to ensure that cases were collected from each region proportionately representative of the UK population.
