Error Message:

Connection to Q Local Database Failed

Commonly occurs when clicking on the desktop icon.

Solutions:

1) Make sure that the SQL Server (QLOCALINSTANCE) is started.

  • Click on Start -> Run and type in services.msc; click OK. This will
    bring you to the Services Console. 
  • Locate in the list SQL Server (QLOCALINSTANCE) and look at the
    Status column.  If it says anything other than Started there is a problem. 
  • If the column is blank, it means that the service is not running. 
  • Right-click on the service and click on Start. It should start without
    complaint and the Status column should change to say Started. 
  • Now try to open Q Local. If this service is not started, there is no chance
    Q Local can open.

2) Check if the Q Local database files are compressed. 

  • Default location C:Program FilesPearsonQ Local System 2db. 
    There are two files and neither should be compressed. 
  • Compressed files will appear in blue font.  Go to C:Program FilesPearsonQ Local System
    2db and look at the two files in that directory (QLocalDB.mdf and QLocalLog.ldf). 
  • If either (or both) of these files appear in blue font, then it means they are
    compressed.  To uncompress, first stop the service described above, then right-click
    on the files one at a time and go to Properties -> Advanced. 
  • Uncheck the box next to Compress contents to save disk space.  Apply and OK
    out of those screens.  Make sure that the files now appear in black font.  Restart the
    QLOCALINSTANCE as described above and then try launching Q Local again.

3) Within internet security products should the three programs listed on page 4 of
the Q Local Quick Start Guide should be specifically allowed.

 

 

Error Message:

Device driver was not successfully installed - cannot find report counter

Solution:

  • Navigate to: C:Program FilesPearsonQ Local System 2Hasp Tools
  • Run UninstallHasp.bat. When that finishes run InstallHasp.bat then
    plug the report counter in again, preferably into a different USB port
    than previously used.

 

 

  

Error Message:

Unable to lock file for HASP.

This is a common error with permissions in a certain folder.

Solution:

  • Click on the Start button and go to Programs->Q Local 2->Access Log Files
    that will show you where files like the Log files and the Lock File we create
    when accessing their report counter are stored. Permissions need to be granted
    to these folders. 
  • If you work privately, please email us the information from the Log files at
    info@pearsonclinical.co.uk and we will look into this.  

 

 

How to select the right reports for MMPI-2 - when administering on screen

After the demographics screen, the assessment should appear

The report options (example below) should come up in the screens after audio and marital status

  • Clinical - 8 different norms
  • Forensic - 6 different norms
  • Occupational - 7 different norms

 

 

How to select the right MMPI-2 reports - when entering information manually

Underneath the demographics you will see:

  • Clinical
  • Forensic Setting
  • Occupation
  • Addiction Potential

If you click on a box then view item text, you will be shown the numerical choices
for the type of norms you wish to use for the report.

How to update your Q-local software to the latest version

Please download this short, step-by-step guide to updating your Q-local software.

Having followed these instructions, you will then need to open Q-local and click the link to check for updates on the home screen. It will then download and install the latest version (version 3.2).
