Education, Health and Care Plan

Find out how Pearson Assessment can support the implementation of the Education, Health and Care Plan in your setting with assessments, interventions and CPD resources.

Education, Health and Care Plans - Overview

With the introduction of the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) professionals like you will need to work closer than ever across different teams and departments, and with families and young people, to ensure students’ receive the right support. Essential support that can help them participate, progress and enjoy school life to the full.

At Pearson, we are here to help support you with a range of assessments, interventions and CPD resources. Our tools can provide evidence of need, providing reliable results that can shape progress reports and input into your short and long term outcomes or goals for individual children and your people.

What is an EHCP?

The EHCP replaces Statements of special educational needs and Learning Difficulty Assessments. The ‘plan is for children and young people aged up to 25 who need more support than is available through special educational needs support.’1. Through the EHCP, students’ needs are legally documented and the EHCP describes what needs to be done to meet those needs by education, health and social care.

Through the introduction of the EHCP children and young people should be at the centre of their support, and be part of its making. For EHCP to be successful there is a drive towards a whole school approach to SEND which get everyone involved in supporting children and young people.

What are the four areas of need?

Students in all settings will face different challenges and need support in a variety of areas across their education. The EHCP address four areas of need:

On the following tabs you can find out more information about these four areas, what’s covered, the assessments and resources that can provide information, and where to look for more information.
