This measures complex aspects of intellectual functioning that incorporate concept formation, memory and learning from experience. As such, it is an ideal measure of higher order nonverbal abilities.
The CCT is fast and easy to administer. Children are asked to determine the principle (i.e.. colour matching, size, proportion, etc.) in each subtest using examiner feedback. The test also accomodates the needs of children with colour acuity or severe motor problems. In effect, it is a booklet version of the Halstead-Reitan Category Test for Children and has been co-normed with the CVLT-C.
