1968-1981: Wechsler contributes to the revision and update of his widely used tests

1967: The last of Wechsler’s tests the Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence is developed

1955: Develops the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale and Wechsler Test of Adult Reading  

1945-1949: Develops the Wechsler Memory Scale and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children

1939: Publishes the Wechsler-Bellevue Intelligence Scale

1932-1967: Moves back to New York and becomes a Chief Psychologist at Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital

1932: Goes to Austria and studies with Anna Freud et al at the Vienna Psycholanalytic Institute

1927: Opens a private clinic practice

1925-1927: Receives his Ph.D., and approaches James Cattell, about working for The Psychological Corporation. Serves as acting secretary for the company

1922-1924 Is a psychologist in New York City's Bureau of Child Guidance while working on his doctoral degree at Columbia

1920: Wins a fellowship to the University of Paris and studies physiological changes related to emotion with researchers Henri Pieron and Louis Lapique

1919: Transfers to France and is then assigned to study in England at the University of London under noted scientists and statisticians Charles Spearman and Karl Pearson

Works as a psychological examiner in the Army, where he met psychologists Edward Lee Thorndike and Robert M. Yerkes

1917: Receives his M.A. degree in experimental psychology at Columbia University under Robert S. Woodworth

1916: Receives an A.B. degree from City College of New York

1902: Emigrates to New York at age 6

1896: Born in Romania, the youngest of seven children
