Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales, Second Edition (Vineland-II) - Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the forms?

The manual states:

“Two survey forms, the Survey Interview form and the parent/caregiver rating form assess adaptive behaviour in the four broad domains of communication, daily living skills, socialisation, and motor skills, and include a maladaptive behaviour domain that assesses problem behaviours. The two forms differ only in method of administration (interview versus rating scale)

The Expanded Interview Form offers a more comprehensive assessment of adaptive behaviour within the four domains and provides a systematic basis for preparing individual educational, habilitative, and treatment programs.

The Teachers Rating Form provides assessment of behaviours in the four domains but focuses on readily observable behaviours exhibited in a classroom setting and includes items related to basic academic functioning.”
